Founded in 1937, Brookfields is Hawke?s Bay's Oldest Boutique Winery. Peter Robertson bought Brookfields Vineyards in 1977. Purposely built as a winery, Brookfields is one of Hawke's Bay?s most visited destinations and a leading light for New Zealand premium wines.
Peter has developed the winery over time with modern technology but has retained traditional wine making methods. He creates classic wines with grapes only grown in specific locations and to his strict growing policy - (expressing the essence of place).
Brookfields reputation has been built on stunning red wines. The 1989 Gold Label Cabernet/ Merlot stunned traditional wine-critics and the trade on its release. Its sheer weight and flavour made it the wine of the vintage. Subsequent vintages have firmly placed Brookfields as one of Hawke?s Bay's Best Red wine maker. "It is my strong belief that superior wine comes from superior fruit; great wines are made in the vineyard. At Brookfields, we let each vintage speak for itself, giving each parcel of fruit individual attention, so as to best express each vineyard site, grape variety and the age of the vines. This balance has made our wines enjoyed both at home and in fine restaurants the world over." Peter Robertson - Winemaker.
