In just eighteen vintages, Gibbston Valley Wines has established an outstanding reputation for producing some of New Zealands finest cool climate wines. Pinot Noir is the best known of these, and the winery has won more awards, trophies and accolades for this variety than any other. Gibbston Valley Wines, other varieites, are also gaining tremendous popularity in their own right. Gibbston Valleys Riesling and Pinot Gris regularly sell out quickly at the Cellar Door as a result of our winemakers understanding and careful handling of these noble varieties. The Blanc de Pinot Noir - a rose wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes that Gibbston Valley Wines introduced in 1999 has gained almost cult status and regularly becomes the winerys fastest selling wine over the hot summer months. Gibbston Valley Wines have scored a rare two gold medals in the prestigious San Francisco International Wine Challenge for their 2005 vintage Pinot Noirs. The Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir 2005 and the Gibbston Valley Reserve Pinot Noir 2005 - shot to the top of their class to each take a Gold Medal.
