Established in 1992 by the Lawson family, Te Awa is situated in the renowned Gimblett Gravels premium winegrowing region of Hawkes Bay. The land had traditionally been used for grazing and was part of the original Longlands Station, however, the Lawson's intention was not to farm sheep but to grow premium grapes for making fine wine.As a single estate winery we cherish our rich diversity that the unique terroir of Te Awa provides. Our philosophy is to achieve balanced wines, reflecting the grapes from which they are made and having the individuality of our vineyard site. Embracing the time proven traditions of the worlds great winemakers, we harvest and vinify the different parcels of our vineyard separately, which gives us small variations in flavour and texture and thus more options when it comes to blending.
